'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - FA Youth Cup

A word of congratulation to our youth team!

Given a difficult away tie, at Ipswich, our youngsters came through with flying colours winning 3-1 at Portman Road.

The emphatic away win gives them a tie, in the next round, against Aston Villa or Millwall at Craven Cottage.

I watched this match at portman road and it was a great game. Both teams naturally attacking but it was lovely to see real old fashion wing play from fulham. Both the no. 11 and 7 hugged the touch line and with neat inter play from the middle they had several goes at the ipswich fullbacks and may times skinned them. Fulham had early chances but ipswich were unlucky not to be in the lead at half time. Great saves by goalie. Second half Fulham started slowly and Ipswich uped their play and got a penalty. But we soon struck back and equalised soon after going behind. We peppered them with crosses and corners. Hit the bar and post and our goals came from set plays. A great 50 yard run from the no.9 and a penalty for a shove in the box, he scored the pen and i went home hoping the senior squad could repeat this tonight against pompey. Great evening and would certainly recommend watching the lads in the next round

Villa will be a tough one but I'd imagine Millwall won't be slouches either!

Putney .... I would say that there was 1500 or so but it was great being mixed with the tractor boys. great noise when they scored but I think i was the only Fulham there as i stood up for all our goals. After the third goal i was singing "premiership we're having a laugh!" in response of course ha ha. really embarassed my 15 year old newphew who is a loyal tractor boy season ticket holder.
