Fulham - Beattie Deal Collapsed?

Transfer deadline day could have seen yet more striker movement at Craven Cottage.

As well as finally sealing a deal for Stefano Okaka and letting Diomansy Kamara go to Glasgow Celtic, we could have witnessed the arrival of another Premier League striker.

Rumours are rife that James Beattie was on the verge of a move to Craven Cottage and that he even underwent a medical before the deal collapsed in spectacular fashion.

According to rumour, Roy Hodgson pulled the plug, at the eleventh hour, when it became obvious that Beattie wouldn`t budge from his request for 45,000 a week!

Glad to see that common sense prevailed Roy!

The Beeb said that Beatts was also having a medical for Sunderland yesterday - busy day then - especially as ESPN reckoned he'd been in the team hotel in Sunderland all day! In reality I don't think he was going anywhere until Stoke had signed up a replacement striker. That didn't happen - so Beattie stays with us for now.

he seems like a headcase... he would probably help for 6 months, max, but i can't say i'm disappointed that the deal fell through...
woodysweats
dont want him not at that price when some would be happy to get 1000 a week
truth sayer ffc
Never really wanted him on a permanent basis. A simple loan would have been suitable for our purposes.

Glad we pulled out. That money would be ludicrous!

He's shot himself in the foot there. No wonder he looked tearful on the Stoke bench last night!
DeuceBigelow
I don't care if he was willing to play for a quid a week, never rated him.

Ok if you are playing regularly and you are wanted by your own manager/team....then you can demand! Good choice roy....is beattie more interested in the money than playing? Hope he enjoys the rest of the season watching prem football...then offloaded to championship in summer.
Leonestar
I still feel he'd have done a job for us!

I feel that too, but, some people are just too greedy. (He isn't the skinniest player in the Prem!)
