Fulham - Shorey Grateful for the Opportunity!

With defensive cover a priority, especially with Paul Konchesky currently crocked, the signing of Nicky Shorey should give us the defensive flexibility we crave.

Hopefully, it`ll do away with the square pegs in round holes syndrome that Roy Hodgson spoke about following the defeat to Aston Villa, on Saturday.

Shorey who, incidentally, is a Villa player, has fallen behind Stephen Warnock in the pecking order at Villa Park and previous to his move to Craven Cottage has bee starring for Nottingham Forest in the Championship.

Naturally though, Shorey is pleased to be given a chance to get back into the top flight and pit his skills against the best. On signing for Fulham he was quick to praise Martin O`Neill for agreeing to give him the opportunity to come to Fulham and remarked,

"I can`t thank Martin enough for the opportunity to get some first team action in the Premier League."

"I am keen to show everyone I have the quality needed to play in the top flight."

I wonder if he`ll get his Fulham debut against Portsmouth this Wednesday evening or will that be a game too soon?

I guess we`ll know the answer tomorrow, will we not!
