Fulham - Hodgson Square Pegs in Round Holes!

After our fifth Premier League game without a win, Fulham are slipping perilously towards the lower end of the table.

The 2-0 home defeat, at the hands of Aston Villa, wasn`t a result we expected but we need to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and look forward to the next match.

After the defeat, Roy Hodgson addressed the press and had this to say,

"It looked like a goalless draw for long periods of the first half - but we were hit by the goals and ended suffering a bad home defeat."

"The first goal came down to a lack of experience by Chris Smalling, but the way we conceded the second goal was even more calamitous."

"We came out for the second half and gave it a go - yet Aston Villa are a very good side defensively and proved very difficult to break down."

"We looked more likely to pull a goal back after the break than Villa were to extending their lead, but we were short of luck."

"We are suffering from some bad injuries and that is not helping the team. Players are operating in positions they are not comfortable with."

The exact opposite to last year when, blessed with god fortune, we sailed through the season with very few injuries.

One of those things I suppose!

We really didn't improve the team in the summer and now we're paying for it. Honestly, I really wouldn't mind having some Burnley-style players who charge forward with the ball regardless of the circumstances. Sometimes, we're too slow in build-up, and when teams stay organized at the back, it's too hard to find a way through.

with the Europa Cup games to come we could find ourselves slipping back into the relegation dog-fight (just like the old days)

If that happens I think Roy is wise enough to play the kids in Europe, but after what we have achieved that would be a shame. The Okaka deal looks good but we really could do with a full back, does anyone know how long Pantsil will be out for?

Just read that we signed Nicky Shorey on loan. That'll take care of the left back problem. Really wish we'd go get Nathanial Clyne from Palace. He's young, but I rate him higher than Kelly.

and another left back from liverpool... well done then... let's right the ship...

amen to that kelly should also be back

We were shocking against Villa but there's always hope. Villa were good on the day and we should get the points from Pompey; Even with the injuries.
