Fulham - Stockdale Pens New Deal!

He arrived from Darlington and was tipped as a bright young prospect.

But David Stockdale hasn`t really had the opportunity to shine in the first team. The form of Mark Schwarzer has meant that the position has been tied down.

Nevertheless, Roy Hodgson and his coaching team are fully aware of his capabilities and for that reason David Stockdale has signed a new contract in a deal that will tie him to Fulham until 2013.

Speaking about the deal, Stockdale has remarked to the official site,

'It means the world to me.'

'Thankfully the club has rewarded me."

'It was great to be here in the first place and I'm settled here and have had the opportunity to show what I can do."

'The keepers here are great to learn from and there's a wonderful rapport, if I can do half of what Schwarzer and Zuberbuhler have done in their careers, it would be a great career to look back on."

'I'm working with the best here at Fulham and it was nice to get an opportunity in the Premier League against Everton earlier this season.'

With Stockdale now 24 years of age you get the impression this latest contract needs to be the one in which he makes his mark!
