This afternoon we get the opportunity to compare what we have with what we wanted!
It`s no secret that Fulham were keen on signing Peter Crouch in the summer and that he would have replaced Bobby Zamora in our side with Bobby probably ending up at Hull City.
But as is often the case things are not as straight forward as they seem. Spurs jumped on the Crouch bandwagon whilst Bobby wasn`t 100% interested in moving to the KC Stadium.
The rest as they say is history!
Crouch isn`t always first choice at White Hart Lane whilst our Bobby has gone from strength to strength.
Remembering the circumstances, Roy Hodgson is quoted as saying,
Hodgson said: "We tried to sign Crouch but Zamora has come up trumps.
"Crouch had the opportunity to join Fulham or Tottenham, and he chose Spurs. That meant we were able to keep Bobby and with him playing well, it`s not something we have missed. If Bob had joined Hull as
had been mooted - and we had not got Crouch - it would have been more problematic. "
"But we respected Peter`s decision and so far have survived with the players we already have."
"Money plays a part, too, and there is no doubt their wage bill is considerably higher than ours."
If you ask me I`m over-the-moon that the status quo was kept and that Bobby stayed whilst Crouch went elsewhere!![]()
