Fulham - Blackburn Player Link Emerges!

With us already having reported that Roy Hodgson would, if he had his way, want a £10 million war-chest this transfer window, it seems one player is already being linked to our club.

The player in question is Benni McCarthy, of Blackburn Rovers, a player that has drifted in and out of the Rovers first team in recent months and having made only four starts.

Apparently, our interest has been revealed by the players` agent, Ivan Modia.

Modia has also implied that Portsmouth could also be interested. But, if our interest is genuine, then we have a head start over the South coast club who are currently under a transfer embargo.

Now what could be the crux of this whole transfer scenario is that McCarthy needs regular first team football to ensure he stands a chance of guaranteeing his place in the South Africa squad for the 2010 World Cup.

Here at Vital Fulham, we have two questions.

Would a move for Benni McCarthy be acceptable to the Fulham support?

And, if we did sign him, would he be a regular in our first team?

first answer, yes. he's quality and he could help the team... he would be an upgrade to kamara, probably to nevland as well... second answer, no. he would not start above bobby or aj, once he's back to fitness... when that will be, who knows? but we wouldn't get our hands on him till after the Africa Cup of Nations, no? that's a while away and i hope aj will be back by then... go to portsmouth...

Because of his age, he would be a short-term addition, so I would not spend much to acquire him. That being said, he's a reliable goal poacher and I think he would be more productive than AJ. The big question is how he would fit in with Zamora. Zamora is finally scoring goals. I'm not naive enough to think the hot streak won't come to an end at some point, but I'd be hesitant to do anything that would put Bobby off his game. If he came to us, I have to believe it would be because he was somewhat guaranteed a starting role. So then, what becomes of AJ and the huge amount of money that we spent to acquire him? Not counting on this happening.
