Following the great win over Manchester United, Roy Hodgson took time out to give the attending hacks, at his post match conference, his thoughts on playing against the big four.
But, when pressed about the best teams we`ve played, his answer may leave you a little speechless. But more importantly, Roy seems confident that his side have no fears about facing the so-called big four, when he remarks,
"Chelsea were good and Wigan played well against us. I think we have shed the inhibitions we might have had. I don`t think we have any at the moment when we play the top teams."
"What we do have is the major task and problem of dealing with them, because they have such good players that if you allow them time and space they`re very quick to hurt you."
"We were anxious that we didn`t give United that time and space, that we closed them down well and the whole team deserves enormous credit for the pressurising they were able to do."
"I don`t know if we have a great record against the big clubs."
"We lost to against Chelsea and Arsenal here but have beaten Liverpool and now Manchester United."
"I would say the performance against Arsenal was as well as we`ve played even if we lost 1-0, we played exceptionally well."
"Had we got the reward we deserved, and Arsene Wenger thought we deserved, we would have a great record against the top four."
"At the moment, it`s six points from four games, which is really good, though it could have been a point or three more."
With a fixture against Chelsea to come after a visit from Tottenham, it`ll be interesting to see how Roy`s words stand the test of time, well a week at least!![]()
