The Bobby Zamora for England campaign continues to gather momentum!
But will Bobby be given his chance?
Zamora has scored 9 goals this season and out of the current candidates for the striking roles for England, only Defoe, Rooney and Bent have scored more. In fact Bobby has out-scored the likes of Agbonlahor, Cole, Crouch, Owen and Heskey, all of whom have been touted as possible strikers for the 2010 World Cup squad.
Zamora certainly has the support of his Fulham team mate, Chris Baird, who has championed his case, commenting,
"If he keeps playing like this, why not put him in for a friendly and see how Bobby does."
"If Fabio Capello sees Bobby in this form then he has to give him a chance."
For those who have their doubts, let`s go back in time to 1966, the only other year England have gone all the way in the tournament.
That year a certain Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters came from nowhere to become national heroes, could Bobby do the same?
A lot could happen between now and May, a point Chris Baird elaborates on, remarking,
"By the time the World Cup comes around there could be injuries or anything, so Bobby has to keep this form going and see what happens.
"Against Basel he was magnificent and could easily have got a hat-trick so if he keeps this form up until May, he`s got to have every chance."
So keep those fingers crossed, Bobby Zamora, this time next year, could well be a household name!![]()
