Fulham - Roy Grins and Bares It!

Before kick off in the superbly named St Jakob Park Stadium, Roy Hodgson had ruefully reflected on our chances of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Europa League.

He felt that several refereeing decisions, particularly in both of the fixtures against AS Roma, had left us with a mountain to climb.

Therefore, it was quite ironic that Fulham suffered yet another dodgy decision yesterday evening.

When the ball was played into our penalty area, it was blatantly obvious that the ball hit stomach area of Chris Smalling and at first it seemed as if a corner had been given.

Almost laughably the referee changed his mind and pointed to the spot after the Basel players appealed for a spot kick.

Frei subsequently converted the gifted opportunity and Fulham had to fight back to ensure qualification was assured.

Now normally you`d expect Roy to show his passion for fair play and you`d expect to witness a vociferous protest with both arms flailing, but not on this occasion.

This time Roy simply looked on and smiled almost acknowledging that Fulham were bound, sooner or later, to be on the end of yet another dodgy refereeing decision in this competiton!

A memorable moment from a memorable European run that still goes on!
