Fulham - Thank You Roy!

I think it`s time to give our fine club a pat on the back!

Last night, probably against many people`s expectations, Fulham traveled to Basel and won. The win, despite the narrow margin, was convincing and it would have been a travesty if Basel had of snatched a last minute equaliser to deprive us of our place in the knockout stages.

Back in May of this year, I have to admit to being a little overwhelmed, we`d finished seventh and the thoughts of a European competition saw me torn between us pushing on in the Premier League this season or pursuing European glory. With our smallish squad I couldn`t see us doing both.

But, all credit must go to Roy Hodgson for juggling is resources with such finite ability that we`re no win a position to kick on in both competitions and all this with the handicap of an injury list that far exceeded anything we witnessed last year and a succession of dodgy decisions in Europe hampering us.

Now for all we know we could crash out in the first knockout stages and we could slip down the Premier League, especially with a few tricky games ahead of us as the festive celebrations draw ever nearer.

But until that happens I`m going to bask in the warm glow of last night, a night where the name of Fulham Football Club didn`t quite reverberate around Europe but made its own little impression, an impression that could have those in the draw with us, on Friday, a little hesitant about our paths crossing!

We thank you Roy and long may you be our boss!

Roy has gone about the business of building us a very good squad in his usual quite manner. I must admit to not knowing a lot about some of the players that he has brought in to be squad members, people like Ehutu, Pantsil and Kelly had not exactly set the prem alight before they joined Fulham, and then you have players like Baird & Hughes who under LS seemed totally out of their depth but under Roy seem assured and confident in what they are supposed to do. Then of course you have the buy of the decade in Hangeland, how many of the top four are kicking themselves now for not spotting him first? I honestly believe that we have one of the best managers in the league right now and have total faith in his ability not just to manage the team but to build a solid platform for years to come. The worst possible thing that could happen to FFC would be for us to lose Roy. I also think that Roy Hodgson absolutely epitomises what FFC represents both on and off the pitch. COYW

he has all of his accomplishments... and they really are his, because he took this team from the absolute depths, saved our skin, and reached accomplishments never reached before... and none of that can be taken away from him... i absolutely agree that we need to keep him here as long as we can, and i've very happy that he has signed on to stay with us with a new contract, and hangeland and hughes as well... but on top of all of this is the fact that he is actually a true gentleman, and has been in every aspect... in the face of mind boggling referee decisions, he has kept his head... in the face of one of his players taking an embarrassing dive (pantsil), he made clear his and the club's feelings towards the manner, and that they shall not be repeated, and he's a genius in terms of man management and squad management... he took a team without hangeland, dempsey, duff, aj and konch in the starting line up, and beat the group leaders away... hats off to roy hogdson, best manager in the prem...

He is not only a good manager but cares about helping a team in League 2 Lincoln City, managed by one of his ex-players Chris Sutton who is in his 1st managerial job. The Lincoln Fans also appreciate what he's doing helping a struggling League 2 Club Many thanks from an Imps fan
