Fulham - First Rating Hangeland!

Since the abolition of National Service in this country many suspect that the youth of today have it easy!

Speaking to the media, ahead of a tricky fixture at Birmingham, Brede Hangeland has spoken out about the time when he had t do his bit for his country, remarking,

"I was in my first season at Viking Stavenger when I was told I had to join the Navy for a year. I was in the middle of my basic training on the day of the Norwegian Cup Final against FK Bryne.

"So I had t get up at 05:30 in the morning, run around the forests shooting a few targets for a couple of hours, play for Viking and then return to the Navy base that evening."

"Luckily we won the final and after six weeks basic training I spent most of my time in an office. So it wasn`t too bad."

But I`d wage my last dollar that training contributed to the man that Brede is today!
