Fulham - Right Old Row Brewing!

A right old row could be brewing ahead of the African Nations Cup, in January!

Apparently the African nations involved have sent letters out decreeing that al players are to be released for international training camps from the 27th December.

Fulham, as we`re all aware, would lose John Pantsil ahead of our local derby fixture with Chelsea.

Roy has fears that Fulham could be penalized here if Chelsea are allowed to keep the, currently injured, Michael Essien for the fixture and has remarked to the media,

"It is probably an oversight on their part, and I do not expect Ghana to insist Pantsil leaves the day before we play Chelsea, or that Essien leaves Chelsea."

"I think it was a bit disrespectful of the African Nations teams to write to English clubs asking players t be released on December 27th when they know we have matches on the 28th. Especially as they have a two and a half week preparation period."

"I do expect him to play on the 28th and he will unless FIFIA intervene. But we will then have to insist that Drogba goes as well."

I wonder how this is all going to pan out!

Will all Premier League clubs be treated evenly or will the big-guns pull a few strings?

We won't have a choice. If FIFA back the African nations involved, we'd risk having any points picked up versus Chelsea being docked for not releasing Pantsil. Chelsea will be REALLY hard hit by the African Nations Cup. To be honest, if it came down to us not having Pantsil, but Chelsea likewise not having Essien, Drogba, Kalou and Obi Mikel, I'm all for it! We can find a replacement for Pantsil much easier than Chelsea can find replacements for those four.
