Fulham - Target USA?

With a list being circulated yesterday, that reputedly named those players who Roy Hodgson feels are surplus to requirements and can be moved on trim the wage bill, one Eddie Johnson was put in an awkward situation.

With the World Cup fast looming, Johnson was hoping to use Fulham as the perfect platform to secure his place in the USA squad. Unless, Johnson gets his move his ambitions could be stifled.

Therefore it`s interesting to hear that one of his USA colleague, DaMarcus Beasley, could be moving to Fulham for exactly the same reason, namely to secure his position in the USA squad.

This morning Fulham, courtesy of a leading tabloid, are linked with a move for the player who is currently at Glasgow Rangers but isn`t featuring, in the first team, as often as he would like.

Speaking about the situation Beasley is quoted as saying,

"My situation isn`t ideal. I`m looking for a move because I want to play. It`s not that I`m not happy with the club."

The same tabloid implies that a fee of £1 million would be required to secure the services of a player who has already sampled life in the Premier League whilst on loan, from PSV Eindhoven, at Manchester City.

Whether there is any real substance in the story remains to be seen!

He's not going to get any more playing time at Fulham that he's gotten at Rangers. If playing time is the angle, he needs to look at some of the smaller European leagues. My personal opinion is that he doesn't belong on the USA squad anyway. We have better options.

This article frightens me. Beasley, should not, and may not be on the US world cup squad and he should not be starting here. He plays out wide and there is no way he is better than Dempsey, Duff, or Davies. Last year I would have taken him over Gera, but Gera has stepped up during the last few months. There is no room for Beasley at Fulham.
