Fulham - Hodgson on Penalty Miss!

Fulham - Hodgson on Penalty Miss!

I guess I was surprised as the next man when Danny Murphy missed the penalty in the sixth minute.

Danny is normally so reliable from the spot that you`d bet your last pound on him hitting the target, I guess it goes to confirm that you should never take anything for granted from the spot.

After the game Roy Hodgson reflected on the penalty miss in his post match press conference, remarking,

"It was foolish to miss a penalty but in addition to that we had a lot of chances."

"But it wasn`t a mistake to let him take it. He`s a penalty taker and in my two years here we`ve never missed one of about seven or eight."

Quite right Roy, there`s nothing to confirm that Clint Dempsey would have been succesddul from twelve yards out is there?
