Fulham - Hodgson on Birmingham Loss!

The least I expected Fulham, after our recent form, to get at St Andrews was a draw.

But a mixture of inclement weather and a lethargic start scuttled those hopes.

Nevertheless, despite my pessimistic attitude post match, Roy Hodgson though there were a lot of positive points to take from the game and in his post match interview spoke about the performance, a sudden illness and some great keeping that denied us, when he commented,

"It was a good performance from us but a bad result. Eve in the first half, we had plenty of chances but they were being blocked on the edge of the box."

"We lost Erik Nevland through illness so Dempsey had to go upfront so you can see we`ve still got injury problems."

"But I don`t think there are any changes we could have made from a fully fit squad that would have made a major difference. We couldn`t dominate any more than we did. The goal just eluded us."

"Birmingham defended very well. When we did get through, the keeper pulled off some great saves."

Thankfully, we don`t have to wait too long to be given a chance to get things back on track as we entertain Blackburn Rovers this Wednesday evening.

on this one its just a case of win some lose some

I understand playing defensive football for away fixtures against stronger opposition and try to pick up a point, but I really wish we'd just play attacking football on the road and try to pick up three points against teams like Birmingham, Burnley, Wigan, etc. And, though my preference is to strengthen the midfield, I'd really like to pick up at least one forward who can consistently finish. Why not give David Elm a chance. He's played well for the reserves recently.

this Elm geezer - is he still with us?

he have to lose our position in the standings... we're in 8th now after some more wins, but even after this match we were in the top half... as much as we don't have a consistent goal scorer, we're getting the job done in the table...
