Fulham - Beware the Roman Legions!

Thursday sees the AS Roma return fixture in the Europa League.

It`s a fixture, as well as the home leg, that the Fulham support was most looking forward to.

But, with our away support never being amongst the more numerous in the Premier League, I can`t say I`m surprised to hear that only 300 will be making the pilgrimage to Rome.

Unfortunately, those 300, if other teams previous experience is anything to go by, could be in for a rough ride.

The Ultras that follow AS Roma have established a reputation for attacks on English supporters with both Middlesbrough, Manchester United and Arsenal being battered in the city.

In order to prevent a reoccurrence, the Rome police have put into place certain measures. Including,

• All Fulham supporters are advised to use the official shuttle buses laid on for them.

• Sales of alcohol will be banned for a period of seven hours beginning three hours before kick-off.

Regarding the fixture a Fulham spokesman has remarked,

"We have advised every fan buying a ticket through us, the only source, to meet at the pre-arranged meeting point from where they will be taken to the stadium."

"Rome police have organised the shuttle buses, and both the police and AS Roma have worked very closely with us and have incredibly helpful."

Let`s hope there are no unsavoury scenes and those Fulham supporters that travel get to see what they`ve traveled to see - a football match!
