'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - We`ll Not Disturb the Status Quo!

Last season was the best in our history when it came to a finish in the Premier League.

Many supporters suspected that our participation in the Europa League might prevent us from scaling such heights again.

But, another factor, according to Roy Hodgson, could prevent us from ever equaling, or bettering last season, the expansion of the so-called big four to the big seven.

As well as the accepted four of Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and United, the emergence of other cash laden sides, notably Manchester City, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Tottenham have added credence to Roy`s fears sparking him to comment,

'To be one of the best seven teams in the league is going to be very difficult for us on an annual basis."

'The club is not necessarily geared for that. More and more money is being spent and the top four is rapidly becoming the top seven in terms of financial power."

'It would be nice if we could treat our fans to a season when they are not biting their nails into the last two or three games and be a good enough team to occasionally spring surprises like we did on Sunday.'

Although the words are perfectly true, does anyone else feel a little dejected that the only silverware we`re ever likely to win, indeed our first ever silverware, is more than likely to be a League Cup!

You get that for which you ask. Everybody wants relegation/promotion. Nobody wants a closed shop. The Premier League and FA want four teams participating in Champions League, which gives those four massive revenues. Until there's a closed shop, with limited or no relegation/promotion, which will allow for true revenue sharing and the Champions League is scaled back to just include CHAMPIONS, then clubs like ours will always be at the bottom looking up. That's just the way it is.
