Fulham - Hodgson on Gera and Nevland!

With this season being so unlike last season when it comes to injuries, it was a shock to see two more players limp off at half time.

Damien Duff and Diomansy Kamara both picked up knocks, knocks which saw the introduction of Zoltan Gera and Erik Nevland.

The two changes played a key part in changing the outcome of the game
With Nevland getting that crucial second goal and Gera doing some sterling work in midfield.

After the game Roy Hodgson was as honest and as genuine as ever in his post match interview remarking about the substitutions`

'I would love to say it was a wonderful tactical substitution, but it was due to injuries!"

'Gera's not in the team because [Damien] Duff and [Clint] Dempsey have been doing so well, and Nevland hasn't been playing because [Diomansy} Kamara's taken his chance."

'When those players drop out it gives others a chance, and they've taken it.'

They most certainly did and our thanks go out to all those involved for giving us a day to remember! (Even if my head is thumping away this morning!)

Nevland seems to excel in the substitutes roll and by all accounts is content with it. Gera's a good player when he's deployed on the right.

agree with all of it. i think nevland can be successful as a starter also, he just needs a run of games... he's clinical in the box though... pure class... what a finish... gera almost got himself on the highlight sheet too... he was dreaming of last year's goal against man u... it's fantastic that those two combined for the second goal...
