'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - Hodgson`s Lament!

In the cold light of day, well dawn breaking as I contemplated getting out of bed this morning, the late equaliser at Upton Park still badly hurts.

Not only were we a man down but we`d outplayed a West Ham team that, in my opinion, will be relegated this season on that showing.

Roy Hodgson, telling it exactly as it is after the game, spoke about our luck not quite holding but also, probably to ease his own pain, used a few football cliché`s to entertain the assembled journalists, commenting,

"If we had won the game I`d like to think no one would begrudge us the victory because we were worth if for our second half performance."

"But we all know games last 94, 95 minutes and shots do get deflected."

"We saw it with Sunderland when they were denied a famous victory at Old Trafford."

"And I think we have been denied a famous victory here in exactly the same way."

"It has been an excellent week for us with plenty of grit and determination."

"We were good against Arsenal, and showed great character against Basle and here."

It has been a good week and I`m sure I`m not alone in believing that Roy has got Fulham back on track after an early season blip!

We're looking better, but the lack of scoring up front is not something that can be ignored. We made do last season, but one of the forwards must start scoring at some point.

Totally agree. Hopefully, today is the start of a spell of consistent scoring.

Regarding Zamora's injury, I don't think it was a physical issue. I think he's been diagnosed with a mental anxiety disorder called goalaphobia. Don't think any further explanation is needed. Sorry, Bobby, but you asked for it.
