Fulham - Stockdale Earns His Stripes

After hearing the news that Schwarzer was probably not going to make the Everton game, I was in favour of Stockdale starting instead of Zuberbuhler.

So, after hearing the team news yesturday, I was pleased to see the young goalkeeper given his chance. It's fair to say, he didn't let anyone down.

The goal he conceded was simply unstoppable as it was another Tim Cahill bullet header. However, he showed he had a good touch and a massive kick. He saved a couple of testing Everton chances and he looked calm and composed throughout.

Hopefully this is the start of David Stockdale's ascent to be Mark Schwarzer's long term replacement as No.1 goalkeeper.

I too was really impressed by him. Had to wait till MOTD to see how good his saves were as couldnt see much in the Hammersmith stand. They were top notch and he seems very comfortable with the ball at his feet.

Outstanding performance in my opinion, and it certainly wasn't a walk in the park. Everton tested him all game. Well done young Stockdale! Well done!

I agree. He was very composed and dealt with a few poor passes back to him admirably as well.

Good future for the lad I say. No world beater, but a good'n.

he will only get better with more playing time... he has the tools and needs to refine them with time... and time we have with this one... how much younger is he than schwarzer? i'll be happy to see him develop in a fulham shirt...
