'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - It Wasn`t the Urals Trip?

The fall out from that awful performance against Aston Villa, on Sunday, continues to generate column inches.

The nature of the performance gave us all cause for concern that the Europa League experience could have a negative effect on our season.

In this instance, journeying thousands of miles back from the Urals was given as a possible course for the malaise but our Norwegian defender, Brede Hangeland, suggests otherwise remarking in the media,

'It's hard to say whether the midweek trip affected us at Villa. I'd like to think not, but we can all agree it wasn't our best performance. They made more chances against us last year when we came away with a 0-0 draw."

'Perhaps we have to give them credit for being effective with their opportunities.'

Personally, I didn`t think Villa were that much better than us, despite our awful performance. Which, I guess makes it even harder to bear because I honestly believe they were there for the taking!

Surely you'd think blaming the trip would be the sensible thing to do from the players point of view...

that was what was so painful about that match... it was there for the taking... if if if, but if we didn't give up a goal on the third minute, and an own goal to boot, it could have been different... but we never looked like scoring, and that's what hurt... no hope.

We've done nothing to substantially improve the squad and as we have already been bitten by the injury bug, it shows. We needed to find a replacement for Danny Murphy - in case of injury and in preparation for the future. We didn't, and now we look like the proverbial headless chicken without him running things from midfield.
