Fulham - Hangeland Could Be Off!

Could a wedding prove to be consequential?

All summer we`ve been worried that Brede Hangeland, after such an impressive season, would be headhunted by one of the big four clubs.

Up until yesterday everything appeared to be clam. We`d survived the plethora of rumours and things were looking rosy for next season. That is until Manchester City upset the apple-cart to sign Toure, from Arsenal.

Now, as we`re all aware, Brede`s name is being mentioned as a possible replacement for Toure.

Furthermore, with negotiations far from concluded on his new contract, we`ve left ourselves wide open to lose him.

Today, one of the leading tabloids is reporting that contract negotiations, between Hangeland`s camp and Alistair Mackintosh, were put on hold to allow the player to get married and go on honeymoon.

It further reports that negotiations were set to resume this week.

Instead, a familiar quote has resurfaced, attributed to Brede, which gives us all concerns with regards to his Fulham future, when he`s quoted as remarking,

"I`m not in a rush to sign the contract. We will wait and see what happens."

My heart tells me that Brede will stay but my head thinks otherwise.

After signing him for a modest fee of £2.8 million from FC Copenhagen I can`t help feeling that selling him for £14 million is a fantastic return for a club like ours!

One last point, if he plays for us in the Europa League tomorrow (Thursday) does that make him illegible for the Champions League if he moves to Arsenal?

I'd have thought with it being two competitions he could play. I still think he will stay, Hangeland would be an atypical Wenger signing.

i don't think he'd be cup-tied, and i certainly hope he doesn't attract the attention of arsenal...

14 mil sounds about right :)

I've heard Wenger is pooing his pants at paying so much for a player!

it said in one of the papers that he would be cup-tied for CL if he played if thats true we'll know tomorrow because if he doesn't play i'd say he's off, we'll see

If we are going to lose him, we should get at least 15 mil for him.
JKW
I think City will go for him if they can't get Lescott

well if city's going for him, we should ask for like 20 mil... no europe to offer...
