Fulham - Hangeland To Arsenal?

Goal.com, attributing a story to The Daily Star, is reporting that Arsene Wenger is preparing a player-plus-cash offer for Brede Hangeland.

The offer is suggested to be 10m plus Swiss international Philippe Senderos.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at AC Milan. Senderos has been linked with a number of clubs recently, including Hertha Berlin, Hamburg, Bordeaux, Aston Villa and Sunderland.

Whether any of these rumors are true, one would think that where there`s smoke, there`s fire.

It seems clear that Senderos is out of favor in North London and is likely headed for the exit.

While Hangeland is certainly a better central defender, I think Senderos is a decent, young player, and with the right coaching could be very good indeed.

I think 10m plus a natural positional replacement would be a good bit of business.

And, as it appears we`re not prepared to pay Hangeland the weekly wage he deserves, this might be a good solution for all involved.

I must confess that I hope this rumor is true!

Hammer, nail, head.

I personally would like Hangeland to stay but if he was to go i think this would be one of the better deals. Senderos is decent enough for us i think

If he has to go, we should get at least 13 mil for him plus Senderos as Senderos is always at least half season injured. Hodgson should stay tough as nails about Hangeland transfer.

Agreed. The more the better. Just so no one misunderstands. I'd rather keep Hangeland, but there is reality to deal with. He's going to leave and if we're not careful, we'll get nothing. Sell him. Make some money, and get some decent players.

senderos is NOT a decent player. one of my friends is a gunner, and i've seen plenty of arsenal games in my day. senderos cannot deal with big strong forwards, a la drogba, and makes costly mistakes in the back... I will be FURIOUS if we bring him in... he is not fulham quality... he could not hack it at ac milan, cannot hack it at arsenal, and as far as i'm concerned, he is not welcome at craven cottage... but hey, i have been missing someone to boo at the games... closest i get now is baird, but he hasn't played all that much.

Ahh, c'mon. He's perfectly decent. Hangeland is a great player, but not the second coming. Senderos with Roy coaching could be just as good as Aaron Hughes, and 6 years younger.
Samboney
i doubt that. maybe that's possible, but i would think that arsenal would have a decent coaching staff to develop their youth... i've seen him too often and seen him make too many mistakes... it would give me an ulcer having him in the back line week in week out... maybe if he played with brede, and his mistakes could be covered up, but him and hughes in the back i do not think would work.
woodysweats
let me put it this way sam. i don't you'd find too many arsenal upset to see him leave.
woodysweats
Fulham fans, Senderos is a very good defender, but he could not handle playing for a "big club" because of the pressure. I don't mean to offend you, but Fulham would be the perfect club for him. Smaller club and you play very defensive football.

WE CANT LOSE HIM NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
