Gold Coast United 2 Fulham 1

On a pre-season tour of Australia, Fulham were surprisingly beaten, in a competitive game, by Gold Coast United.

Before a crowd of 10,000, Fulham were undone by two late goals after having taken the lead, in the 16th minute, when Danny Murphy curled in a wonderful 25 yard free kick.

The home side could have equalised soon after but John Pantsil was alert enough to clear a Joel Porter (ex-Hartlepool) effort off the line.

Sadly, Fulham capitulated a little towards the end and the home side equalised when their Brazilian forward, Milson, equalised. Four minutes from time Smeltz fired home the winner to give our hosts a victory.

Arsenal fan here who was at the game - Fulham played pretty well and dominated the first half - Gera was lively in midfield and Seol Ki-Hyeon dominated the left wing. Murphy's free kick was well struck, but the team folded when he and Gera were taken off at half time. Gold Coast were pretty competitive and created many chances starting from the first minute of the second half.
