Fulham - Bye, Bye Clint?

A report in the The Sun suggests that Everton are about to make a £4m bid for American midfielder Clint Dempsey.

Dempsey, who impressed recently in the Confederations Cup, will be out of contract at the end of next season and has reportedly turned down Fulham's latest contract offer. If the report is to be believed, the Toffees are prepared to offer Dempsey £37,000 a week; £12,000 more than his current Fulham salary.

While it's not implausible, I find this report hard to believe.

1 I think Dempsey is a good player, but I don't know that he's impressed
enough to draw the attention of Everton.

2 If it's a question of salary, surely Fulham could pony-up £37,000 a week.

3 £4m is low. If Kevin Doyle is worth £6m, surely Dempsey is worth at least the same.

I wouldn't hold it against Dempsey if he wanted to join a bigger club. I wouldn't hold it against him if he wanted to make more money. And frankly, I don't know that Roy Hodgson is Clint's biggest fan, so there's no guarantee that he'll have a spot in the starting eleven next season.

That being said, if we're prepared to let Dempsey leave, I want to see us splash some cash and land a great replacement.

I hope not, the coming season could be his best yet having improved towards the end of last season.

would fulham really not have an american in their first team? craziness... being serious though, i could see it happening, but i hope it doesn't... he may not score often, but he has a knack for the important goal... and he has certainly improved under this coaching squad... we'll see i guess...

He's always had a knack for scoring important goals. Surely that's worth the extra salary.

Hopefully it's not true, but if it is i'd want a damm sight more than £4M if Lescott is worth £20M then Client must be worth at least £10M everybody else seems to be getting stupid money for players why not us as well
Oldwolf
It'd be a tragedy to lose him now, especially as he's getting rave reviews!

4M!, you must be having laugh everton. that is not worth dempseys quality and commitment he has at fulham. If we can pay AJ that much of a salary, then i'm pretty sure we could give that much to dempsey. If he left it would be a big loss to us
FUL4EVA
yeah, IF he goes, he better go for more than 4 mil...

Put it this way if Dempsey leaves Roy HAS TO buy a Centre attacking mid, a right winger, and a new striker. Because Roy still hasnt replaced Bullard with a top class player and now he has to replace Dempsey. If Roy doesnt buy two new start players Fulham has no chance even qualifying for the group stages in the europa cup. As much as I love Fulham we have to face the truth.
