Fulham - Go get him Roy!

It`s not often I open a tabloid, flick through its pages and a smile lights my face up!

Well sometimes it does happen but that`s merely a smile related to the unbelievably poor rumours that grace the pages, but this time it was different, it was a genuine smile of anticipation.

Sat amongst the numerous rumours was one was that implied that Fulham are one of three clubs, the other two being West Ham and Everton, that are showing an interest in the Barcelona player, Eidur Gudjohnsen.

Gudjohnsen who joined Barcelona from that lot down the road, is surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp and is available for the knockdown price of £4 million.

He has a wealth of Premier League experience and is the sort of player that could play in the hole behind Andrew Johnson and Bobby Zamora.

My only fears are that the link with West Ham could prove to be our undoing.

Would Gudjohnsen be more interested in working under two of his former team mates, Gianfranco Zola and Steve Clarke or is there a chance that he`d prefer to return to the north-west, with Everton, having previously inhabited that part of the country whilst playing for Bolton Wanderers?

Come on Roy, get that silver tongue working, this guy has that bit of class we need!

haven't really been impressed by him lately... i would pass on him...

For £4m, I'd sign him. He was pushed out of Chelsea because of the big name signings and he never fit in at Barca. Doesn't mean he can't rekindle the scoring touch he had. Plus, he can play a number of positions.

My only concern is that he is 30 and we have quite an old squad as it. We could do with some younger players if we want to plan and build for the future.

I agree, but I'm getting the sense that Roy is going for polished veterans rather than risky youth. I think I know why, but regardless, if that's the direction we're headed, I'll gladly spend £4m on Gudjohnsen rather than £5m or £6m on the likes of Scharner or that guy from Sampdoria, Delvecchio. You know what I mean.
Samboney
get him now, he'll give us a little something extra!
Al Billy
I think he is too old and he is completely different to Zamora so it'd take a while for him and AJ to link up. Not sure...

£4M is a steal for a striker with Gudjohnsen's quality and experience. If you can get him it would be very good business. I think there'll be some serious competition for his signature, though the pull of living in London could well clinch it. Quality of life and all that.
Sindbad
Number 1 he is almost 32. Number 2 he has scored about 10 goals over the last 3 years in 80 odd performances. Number 3 he still wants very decent wages, probably a little more than you can afford. Apart from these minor technicalities I am sure he will be a roaring sucess and score at least 2 per season.

Guddy would be wonderful addition. Go get him!
