Fulham Linked with Sampdoria Midfielder

The Daily Mail is reporting that Fulham are interested in Sampdoria midfielder Gennaro Delvecchio.

Delvecchio is 31-years-old and has spent most of his career with Serie B, C and D clubs. He`s described as "a box-to-box player and has the physical presence to survive in the Premier League at 6ft 3ins.

Statistics I`ve found indicate he scored 6 goals and contributed 2 assists in 28 appearances for Sampdoria in Serie A this past season. Sampdoria have apparently placed a £4m price tag on Delvecchio.

Alright! My frustration is beginning to grow. I won`t dismiss Delvecchio`s talent just because he spent most of his career in the lower leagues of Italian football. After all, Luca Toni played in Serie B for a number of years before bursting into the Italian top flight with Palermo and Fiorentina.

That being said, if we`re going to spend £4m on a marginal Italian talent (and older, I might add), surely we can spend a little more and capture an established Premier League midfielder.

I keep telling myself that Roy knows more than I do. If the story is true and we sign him, maybe this guy will be next seasons John Pantsil. Or, maybe it`s just another ridiculous story being circulated by the papers.

Just rumours! A neverending stream of rumors! I think this is player no. 107, we've been linked with!

I know. I'm going to stop reading the papers and just wait for something to actually happen. Still, Gennaro Delvecchio seems to random and obscure not to have some truth to it. Like I said, I just have to acknowledge that Roy knows what he's doing.

in Roy we must trust!

isn't that part of the fun though, scrutinizing every move and hint of a move that happens... it all washes away anyway once the season starts... based on roy's track record though, we must trust him...
