Fulham - Scharner Still Linked!

Fulham - Scharner Still Linked!

With July 1st drawing ever nearer, albeit very slowly; any transfer activity remains purely speculative.

We all have targets in our own minds as to who we`d like Fulham to buy, some realistic, some totally unrealistic but a lot of it will depend on how much of a transfer budget Roy Hodgson will be given.

But, one name continues to be linked with our club that of Paul Scharner the Austrian defender / midfielder.

Popping over to Vital Wigan, you get the impression that Scharner is a serial transfer-seeker at this time of the year but this year they seem quite certain that he`ll be off, especially since the recent departure of Steve Bruce.

As for Scharner, he`s still, if his comments can be trusted, undecided as to where he`ll end up, remarking,

"Tottenham, Everton and Fulham are interested in me, like Hertha Berlin and Hamburg. But I would prefer to stay in England."

A couple of things bother me though!

With Wigan having recently filled their bank coffers to the tune of £16 million plus for Valencia, will they settle for anything less tan the reputed £6 million they want for Scharner.

Also, is he the sort of player that would fit into our side?

He's perfectly decent, but not for £6. He's just not that good, and I'd venture to say that NO Bundesliga outfit would even consider paying that amount, so why should we. If Wigan can get that amount from Everton or Spurs, I say more power to them. Go ahead and sell him, and leave us alone.
