Boro double

According to today`s reading we are heading the race to sign Adam Johnson, from Middlesbrough. Roy has asked about Johnson and midfielder Gary O'Neil, in a double swoop which would be worth about £8 million.

The story goes on to state that Roy is desperate to improve the depth of the squad with Europa League action to look forward to, and a left-winger is his priority.

O'Neil, who wants to move back south, almost signed in the summer when a swap deal with Jimmy Bullard was discussed.

The story also suggests that Bobby Zamora will be used to part finance the deal, but Gareth Southgate is not keen.

I think this would be a great double swoop. I really rate Johnson and O'Neil would be a very good squad player. I would be upset to see Z-man go as I do like him and think he brings a lot to the team.

be a shame to lose Zamora though!

Don't mind losing goal-shy Bobatov, when we have deadly Kamara and lethal Nevland in the squad :)

£8m the pair is a joke - Johnson is worth more than that on his own. Don't believe the lazy tabloids - Boro have cut their wage bill and debt and don't need to sell anyone. Downing and Tuncay will go because they have earned the right to stay in the top flight. Anyone else not out of contract will only go if Southgate doesn't want them in the squad and that certainly doesn't apply to Johnson. You can have O'Neil for £4m though. He's rubbish.

Johnson being worth £8m is laughable. He's a good, young player, but that assertion is just ridiculous. £8m is a gift for both as I wouldn't rate them more than £6m combined.

Most of you guys know my position on the value of a holding forward. Worth their weight in gold. That being said, I don't think Zamora should be a regular starter, but I'd rather not lose him. Kamara and Nevland have their qualities, but neither are starting material.

Dont want to see Zamora go, we are yet to see him score a hat trick. O'neill...personally he is a nothing player to me at this time but Johnson, great back up and good future player, wouldnt pay more than £4mill though.
