It`s great how things sometimes turn out.
After leaving Middlesbrough, last summer, after having gotten eleven years of service behind him, many suspected that Mark Schwarzer`s career was winding down, despite interest from mainland Europe for his services.
Some ten months later, Schwarzer is able to sit back and reflect on just how things have turned out.
The club he joined finished in a historical seventh position, the best in their history, whilst the player himself, as well as being a front-runner in our 'Player of the Year` award, can reflect on one of the best season`s of his career.
In a recent interview, as Australia contemplate being the first nation to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Mark has remarked,
'It is probably one of the most enjoyable (seasons), the most satisfying overall."
'When you have been at one club for such a long period of time you become part of the furniture."
'It is nice to move on and prove yourself all over again. You can't take anything for granted whatsoever."
'For me, it has been very rewarding and very refreshing to make the move. I am delighted with the way it has panned out.'
And so are we Mark, and so are we.
