The third in the series being Brede Hangeland.
Despite being relatively unknown before this season, Hangeland has caused quite a stir with his ef-fective, no-nonsense defending and has attracted much interest from Arsenal amongst other clubs.
Hangeland was signed by Hodgson in January last year as Hodgson brought in many Scandinavian players from his experience as a manager there.
I think that out of all of his signings, Hangeland is the best.
His solid defending, along with some others, has enabled us to pick up many points against the top five teams in goaless draws. This has meant that, although we haven`t scored a huge number of goals, we have still picked up many points in the big games and also kept a good goal difference.
Seeing as our back four has been relatively unchanged over the season, Hangeland has done the same job throughout the season. And he as done it well! Moreover, his aerial threat due to his enor-mous stature has been of help at both defending set pieces and attacking them. The highlight of his season must have been his winner against Arsenal in the second game of the season.
Hangeland has recently said that there is "nothing to suggest" that he will not be playing for Fulham next season.
It would be massive loss for us if he did go and we will need him all the more importantly next sea-son with our arrival into Europe.
