Fulham - Player Review of the Season (1)

The words "Captain Fantastic" come to mind when one looks at Danny Murphy`s performances over the season.

He has led by example and his experience has been massively important to our success this season.

He managed to start every league game for us and score 7 goals altogether with 5 in the league.

At the start of the season, Murphy and Bullard made up a strong central midfield in a combination that allowed Bullard to fulfill his creative talent as Murphy played in a more defensive holding po-sition.

Off course this all changed in January when we lost the services of Jimmy Bullard.
However, after his replacement in the team by Dickson Etuhu, nothing much did really change for Murphy except that he might have felt obliged to attack slightly more due to Etuhu`s defensive ca-pability.

Overall, it is fair to say that Murphy has been one of most important players this season and without him I think our season may have gone down a very different path.

I look forward to seeing him play in another season at the helm for Fulham next year.

I've not been the biggest fan of Murphy, but he has been wonderful this season, especially since Bullard was sent to Hull. We attack up the middle and his touch in midfield has created so many chances. If we had better finishers, he'd be at the top of the assist list. That being said, we really need to find his replacement. One, he's getting older; and two, what happens if he is injured? I have faith in the lad, but we can't assume he'll be ready week-to-week. By the way, I think all 5 league goals were spot kicks.

oh they definitely were... he's quite good, but we do need to start thinking about his replacement...
