SkySports is reporting that Glasgow Rangers may be interested in signing our 24-year-old left winger, Hameur Bouazza.
The Algerian international has been on loan at St. Andrews since January.
Bouazza was originally sent out on a year-long loan to Charlton in August and had done quite well for the Addicks, but there was a clause in the contract which allowed for a move in January and Alex McLeish took advantage of the opportunity.
It is unclear if Birmingham City are interested in making a permanent move for Bouazza. City chairman David Gold and the board at St. Andrews will certainly be under pressure from Blues` fans to keep the club in the top flight this time around, and though Gold has indicated that they will exercise financial restraint, he and Alex McLeish certainly realize that players required to gain promotion are often not players with the quality to sustain top flight status. Unfortunately for Bouazza, he probably falls into this category - good, but not good enough.
Bouazza came to Fulham from Watford in 2007 for £3m during the brief, but bloody, Lawrie Sanchez era. Unbeknownst to many at the time, Sanchez was conducting an experiment to see if you could destroy a football club by signing mid-level, Championship-calibre players at exorbitant prices, and deploying these players using tactics not seen since the 1970s. Though the experiment was eventually cut short, virtually all believe that Sanchez was well on his way to proving his thesis. Anyway…
Here`s hoping Hameur finds a home at Ibrox!
