Fulham - First Thoughts on Newcastle (a)

I can`t decide whether the win for Newcastle last night was a good or bad thing.

On one hand our opposition, on Saturday, now know that they only need one more victory to stay in the Premier League form their last two games, could that come against us?

On the other hand, if they had of lost then the pressure going into their last home game would have been unbelievable.

The second scenario would probably have favoured us. Desperate for a win the home crowd would have been vociferous but nervous. A resolute first twenty minutes of defending could have dulled that impetus, every mistake would have seen the groans intensify; the scene would have been perfectly set for us to sneak a victory.

Sadly, the first scenario would appear to favour the home side. They`ve rediscovered their scoring touch and, in a way, the pressure is nowhere near as intense. They know that if they fail to win on Saturday they still have one last chance.

Either way it promises to add a bit of spice to the fixture doesn`t it?

A European place at stake for us and survival for them!

We're still the better side, and we should be able to win the match. At the very least, we should be able to grind out a draw. They may have a more talented strike force, but our midfield and back four are better than theirs. The only reason I could think of for us not to put in a good performance is if we're simply saving something for the season finale at home to Everton.

funny how all those Sunderland supporters wanting to sit in our end could now be facing relegation themselves!
