When you compare this season with last season you could possibly draw one particular parallel.
It was about this time last year, in our Premier League programme, that Diomansy Kamara kick-started our survival campaign with two thrilling goals in a fantastic win up at Manchester City.
The goals came when we were dead and buried, losing to City staring into the relegation chasm, in a way they were as valuable, possibly more so, than Danny Murphy`s goal at Fratton Park.
Fast forward to this season, and last weekend, we find Diomansy on the score sheet with another brace. With our Premier League future already assured the importance of those two goals shouldn`t be under-estimated.
If, as we hope, they do their bit to help us qualify for the Europa League they could benefit the club just as much.
Although revenue will increase through participation in Europe, it`ll also make our club more visible and possibly more attractive when it comes to signing players.
Speaking about the very goals already mentioned, Diomansy commented, after the Aston Villa game,
"It`s very different to when I score the two late goals against Manchester City - then it was amazing, the team didn`t want to go into the Championship. This was easier, you`re just trying to get into Europe and you`re more relaxed."
"When you have a big season and beat Arsenal, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Tottenham then you need to be in Europe."
So whilst Diomansy may describe them as being very different, they could, in a way, be very similar, if you get my drift!
