Fulham - Hughes Geordie Angst!

Last year, as you are all perfectly aware, our thoughts, at this stage of the season, were pre-occupied with staying up.

This year we`ve hit fifty points and we are perfectly safe. But we`re still, in a strange way, involved in the relegation picture.

Next Saturday we travel to the North-East to take on a Newcastle side firmly entrenched in a relegation battle that`s every bit as daunting as the one we faced last season.

Amongst our current playing squad is a certain Aaron Hughes, a player who once wore the black and white stripes of Newcastle, and a player who is well aware of the emotions involved.

Speaking to the media, after the fine 3-1 win over Aston Villa, Aaron spoke about the situation remarking,

"My wife Samantha and all her family are from up there, so it`s disappointing they are where they are."

"She was a Newcastle fan but has always supported whoever I`m playing for."

"It would be a shame if they went down, but I can`t play the game thinking that - I`m playing for Fulham and giving everything for my team."

Especially when another three points could edge us closer to that magical 7th spot in the Premier League!

Let's hope it won't effect his performance!

I think Newcastle will be safe, it'll be West Brom, Hull and Boro!
Al Billy
He will have his hands full, as they have nothing to lose. Wouldn't be surprised to see Owen, Martins and Viduka on the pitch at the same time (if they're all healthy, that is).

Come on fulham do the premiership a favour and beat newcastle
TimBoro
after tonights win i see newcastle beating the drop with the current bottom three relegated
FFC Daz
Newcastle and Hull both going down would be great.

yeah i think they mite b safe, hull look like they cant beat a egg,i think we should win though,we got alot more quality
whiteaussie
I would rather Boro go down that Newcastle, i much prefer St James' Park in terms of an away day, plus id quite like to see one or two Boro players being brought in like Tuncay - quality turn for the 1st goal :P
FFC Daz
yeah. we should we. but'll we'll be away and they'll be scrappy as hell... i could see a draw...

I wonder if he feels a little better now they've beaten Middlesbrough?
