Fulham to Miss Out on Surman?

It had been suggested that the impending, or ongoing, financial hell down on the south coast that is currently affecting Southampton could benefit Fulham.

Having previously been linked with their starlet Andrew Surman, it seemed well within the boundaries of realism that a deal might be struck whereby a cash injection could help the ailing club.

But, it looks very much as if another club will reap the befit of signing the youngster with Reading, of all clubs, now emerging strong favourites to pluck this youngster from the club already doomed to play, next season, in League One.

I guess you can`t win them all can you!

Should they beat Birmingham this weekend and Sheffield United draw or lose, Reading will get the second automatic promotion spot. I suppose it's a good investment, regardless, but they'll need to determine where they're playing next season before signing too many players.

good point - my money is on Birmingham clinching that second automatic spot though

Birmingham had their chance last weekend. They must be kicking themselves for that one. Away to Reading is no easy task. Have a feeling Sheffield United will claim 2nd position. Won't they be excited to spend all that Tevez money from West Ham.

Back to the Surman, I've never seen him play. That's one thing about being in the States, other than cup competitions and SkySports highlights, I rarely see English football outside the Premier League.

Potentially he has the ability to be a first team starter. Needs to find his best position as he has played in at least three this season. I want Reading to go up for a personal reason!

For those Fulam fans that have not seen Surman. To put it in a nutshell he's a young player with bags of ability, a strong work ethic and the required maturity to enable him to do well. All Saints fans will wish him well as he has been a good servant to the club
