'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - A Suprise Package?

It`s getting close to that time of the season, reflection time, and with very little in the way of news breaking, I thought I`d get off to an early start.

Back in the summer of 2008 when Roy Hodgson made a swoop for Bobby Zamora not much was known about the 'makeweight` in the deal, John Pantsil.

In fact, with Fredrik Stoor seemingly line dup for the right back slot, many thought that Pantsil would merely be making up the numbers squad wise, how wrong we all were!

Far from just making up the numbers Pantsil has become a valued member of the starting eleven and has made the right back berth his own.

A series of stirring displays have endeared him to the Craven Cottage faithful and his no nonsense approach has seen him granted cult hero status.

My only question is I can`t help wondering if Roy Hodgson knew how good this could was or did he take a gamble?

As for Stoor, he may well be forced to seek pastures new this summer if he is to get regular first team football.

i guess it was an educated gamble... plus he was easy to get included and he didn't fit into their plans... either way, he's a transfer market wizard...

Roy is a genius. He can work with players individually and make them quality. Pantsil was nothing at West Ham, look at him now!

Hopefully Volzy will act as a back-up next season if Stoor goes:D Would love to the the little German fella back at The Cottage.

He has been fantastic. He is a legend imo due to his pre match rituals, they always make me chuckle!

Pantsil has certainly been a very good buy, he gets booked a bit too often and can lack a bit of discipline with the ball and in the tackle. However there is no doubting his commitment, and his pre-match stuff and post match run around the pitch is good fun

He is a real crowd pleaser, which is an asset in its own form!

Has Stoor really had a fair chance I'd ask?

Not really. But you would expect better from the chances he has been given. If he was truly better, he'd be starting! :D
