Fulham - Hodgson Praises Defensive Trio!

At times, up at the Riverside Stadium, there`s no doubting we rode our luck.

It seemed that it was only a matter of time before Middlesbrough got the breakthrough they deserved.

But, as has often been the case this season, the defence held firm with Mark Schwarzer, Brede Hangeland and Aaron Hughes, all playing starring roles.

After the game, in his media address, Roy Hodgson was quick to praise all three, remarking,

"Mark`s save was a match defining moment but that is the kind of thing I`ve come to expect from him. Ever since joining us last summer he has produced cool and composed performances."

"Hughes and Hangeland have also been vitally important. They have hardly put a foot wrong all season."

"I`ve got players all through the side who work extremely hard in every game, but Schwarzer, Hughes and Hangeland have just been so very consistent for us all season."

Glad to see praise going where praise is quite rightly due!

He took his time to pick those 3 out. They have been fantastic, and hopefully the comments will just spur them on more!

great to see Aaron getting praise though - he's an unsung hero!
Al Billy
But Brede is our player of the season - surely!

I would go for Schwarzer! Top goalie!

I'd say Schwarzer's been the key though Hangeland and Hughes is the best defensive pairing we've had in the PL.

i agree whole heartedly alex... during the match, the announcers were saying that hangeland was playing on a banged up right thigh, and if you were inspecting it, he didn't look as solid, and could jump off his right leg... let's hope he heals up before next week.

I think, statistically, Mark has had the most saves to make in the EPL....or something like that! Gawd knows!

Aaron was my man of the match in Middlesboro. He intercepted almost every ball. It was amazing to watch even if Boro made us sit at pitch level. Well done Roy. Credit where it is due.
