Fulham - Brede Ready To Discuss A New Deal?

Roy Hodgson has claimed that sought after defender Brede Hangeland could be ready to talk about a new contract.

The defender has had a fine season for Fulham, and this form hasn't gone unnoticed by other clubs, with several 'bigger clubs' believed to be watching the Norwegian giant in the hope of luring him away from Craven Cottage in the summer.

Hangeland had already admitted that he could leave Fulham if this bigger club did come knocking but according to Hodgson a new contract is being prepared for the 27-year-old, who he also says would be interested in signing the deal: 'We're in the throes now of preparing a contract suggestion for Brede that he's more than happy to see, and that's the situation,' Hodgson told the media. 'He certainly hasn't turned anything down as we haven't as yet made him an offer.

'But he knows we're going to make him an offer and he's very happy to talk to us about that offer.

'That's something which I'm sure will be resolved in the future.'

News that Hangeland could be interested in signing a new contract with Fulham must be something that is good to hear, but do you really think Brede Hangeland will still be playing for Fulham next season?

I hope he signs the deal. I wouldn't be surprised if he still went though. He is a fantastic player and it will show his commitment to the club if he signs.

it would b great if we can keep him, shows what roys ambitions are,it would b a shame if he left us,but at the end of the day no player is bigger than the club

it seems like saying you're happy to talk about a contract, and signing a new contract are two different things, but hangeland does seems like a different type of player... especially when compared to some "other" players who recently ditched Fulham...

I wouldn't be surprised if Hangeland put off contract talks until mid-summer, just to see what the market reveals. I wouldn't blame him, either. I'm waiting for Arsenal and/or Man City to make moves for him. With Arsenal, Gallas is a pain and Toure wants out. With Man City, you need only watch our match last weekend and their match against Hamburg on Thursday to see that Richard Dunne is not the player he once was. Who knows what will happen.

If I was Hangeland I would rather be here than City without a doubt. If Arsenal came calling though, I would have thought he would go, new contract or not!

i'd agree KB... i do not want to mess with manc city if i were brede... arsenal, i think i'd go. champs league football... and he'd fit in well with his passing ability... let's hope arsene doesn't make an offer... watch, fergie will come out of nowhere and swoop him up for 15 mil.

If we got £15 mil +, I would be obliged to accept, as silly as that sounds. But taking into account, he cost around 2!!

Haha....well I spose in the end it's what Hodgson sees fit. It may just be that he has a perfect price in mind, just like Bullard, and, somehow, in the end it could prove good for the club. Or, hopefully, he just won't sell him at all!! :D

Haha....that is a very good idea Putney. I have a feeling he would then be slightly reluctant to sign!! :D
