'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - The Team; Mark Schwarzer

With my brain hardly ticking at full potential this morning, I was hard pushed to think up a nice sparkling new article.

So, I went back to basics, and thought I would share my opinion on some of our first team in an attempt to keep me busy for the next couple of weeks.

First off, Mark Schwarzer, our truly legendary number 1!

Early summer, 2008. Not long following the greatest of all escapes, and already Roy had waved his magic wand and brought the Aussie to the club on a free, following contract worries at his former club, Middlesbrough.

Most, including me, thought it could be a masterful signing, but the majority of 'Boro fans, and plenty of Fulham fans were pretty sceptical of the shot stopper. On hindsight, Middlesbrough fans can be bitterly disappointed to lose him, and we can be very thankful to have him!

From the off he was clearly at the peak of his ability, yet again proving Roy really does know what he is doing in the transfer market. We have one of the best defensive records in the league, and he is one of the main reasons why in my eyes.

He is a superb shot stopper, with second-to-none reflexes and handling to match. His superb double save against Man Utd can all but prove my point. He could easily be keeping goal at one of the top 6 teams, but, gladly, he chose our quaint football club.

I wish him the best, and I also wish he stays with us for years to come. A superb goalie.

here here! at first i didn't think there would be too much of a difference between niemi and schwarzer, but was i proven wrong! and happily too. the greatest difference is that he has started every game we've played. he's a top class keeper, and a monster size-wise. i'll be glad to keep on as long as he wants to play.

Schwarzer sure is top class, and large size wise, which is always handy for a goalie!!
