Fulham - Hodgson Off to Sunderland?

No! Please don`t laugh!

But there`s an article on one of the various news outlets available on the internet that suggests Sunderland are interested in taking Roy Hodgson as their manager.

The suggestion is based simply on the fact that Roy hasn`t (according to the source) had any contract talks with Mr Al Fayed.

Here` at Vital Fulham we`re certain that Roy is more concerned about pushing the team on for the remainder of the season before sitting down to talk about a new contract.

I can't see why any sane man would make that move...

I'm not laughing 'cause this type of thing is not outside the realm of possibility. Roy's been terribly impressive with Fulham. I'm sure other clubs have taken note. Sunderland has had a terrible record in the Prem, but they have top five ground capacity and top ten attendance. Now, this certainly won't happen if Sunderland continue their slide and end up relegated again, but if they manage to stay up and promise Roy money to spend, he could potentially make the move. I certainly wouldn't dismiss any rumor.

i agree with sam, unfortunately, the attraction of a larger ground and larger (but not better) fan base can be alluring for a manager... especially if was given money to spend... just one more thing to dread over the summer...

I honestly can't see him going anywhere other than back into international management...

Let's just hope it's paper talk, it would be a huge blow the team to lose Roy. Also if he goes we can kiss Brede goodbye.

Hodgson to take the Wearside job? He'd be barking mad if he were to take that team. Also Roy I can't see a man of Roy's nature to leave the team when he has his aims higher for next season and a bit of money to spend. Big Stadium and Big fanbase normally means huge pressure and an overrated team e.g. Newcastle.

What with their current problems and potential chances of going down, he'd have to lose the plot to consider such a move.
