'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - Midfielder to Call It a Day?

I have to admit that when Jimmy Bullard left us to fight relegation with Hull City before subsequently succumbing to injury; I thought Olivier Dacourt would fill his role.

After all he`d arrived in the Premier League with a fine pedigree with experience at Everton and Leeds and he`d also sampled life at Inter Milan, in Serie A.

But it hasn`t quite worked out, instead of the name of Dacourt featuring heavily on the team sheet it`s been the name of Etuhu that has come to the fore.

Indeed, Dacourt has only played four times and after coming to London to have, how he puts it, fun, he`s now contemplating whether to call time on his professional career.

His mindset seems to have been generated by the lack of appearances and he`s been quoted as saying,

'On a personal level the most important thing is to play, because I didn't play for one year.'

'Maybe I will stop my career at the end of the season. I came here to have fun during four months.

'Now I have two months remaining to have fun.'

Has the old warhorse got more to offer or is he right to contemplate retirement?

to be honest i feel sorry for him. he came here expecting games, and he hasn't got them. surely that'll dent his morale!!?? needless to say etuhu has been spiffing in midfield though!! :D

Boys and girls? Have you seen the smile on Dacourt's face on the official FFc site? http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2009/March/ImagesGalleries/ManUnitedHome.aspx - image 10 Seriously, he and Zoltan must have got to know each other on the bench but that is the face of a man who wants to play. I agree I thought he was in place of Dickson but there must be more playing time for him. Stay another season Olivier! Want to run our Euro campaign mate???

agreed. maybe if we make the europe push he would be sure to know he would get more games under his belt. i'd love to see him play, but it's hard to take time away from etuhu. he's certainly earning it. and you can't say roy doesn't reward the better players, because dempsey fought his way into the line up from the bench. dacourt needs to earn his time... but i would love to see him play.

He was brought in as insurance in case Etuhu had problems. That hasn't happened. Still, he's played more for us that he did with Inter and as the season winds down, he may get a few more opportunities. It was a loan move that served it's purpose.

Another Jose cast-off! And yet another player ruined by the special1 - Quaresma, Adriano, Malouda, Robben, Dacourt!
