Fulham - Johnson for England?

After our thrilling 3-1 win up at the Reebok Stadium, Andy Johnson has every right to be pleased with himself.

His performances, in recent weeks, have been top notch and many are suggesting he could well force his way back into the England squad.

But, when broached on the subject Roy Hodgson remained as diplomatic as ever, suggesting,

"I can`t say Johnson should be picked for England,"

"Fabio comes to our games and has seen him often enough to know if he wants him.

"But what he`s done for us is quite outstanding, apart from his goal. He gives his all for the team and as a defender it must be difficult to play against him."

Hardly forcing his name down the throat of Cappello but using a degree of subtlety to add weight to his case.

Over in the opposition camp on Saturday, Gary Megson was also full of praise for AJ remarking,

"He is as good as anything you come up against."

So, could AJ do a job for England or has his chance been and gone?

Your thoughts please!

Been and gone. He's produced for us, but I wouldn't think his performance to this point in the season warrants an England recall. Just being honest. Of course, if you're baseline for England call-up is Jimmy Bullard, then 'yes' he might deserve it.

he's not banging in the goals like he has in the past. but that might just be the opinion of someone who wants him well rested for the remainder of the season.

to be fair to him.....he hasn't been given a bundle of opportunities to score goals, unlike for example strikers at united or chelsea. when he gets a good chance, he generally puts it away.

Obviously Fabio didn't watch him at the Emirates where he failed to hit the target......He needs to be hitting 15-20 goals a season to be in the England reckoning, especially if he's playing for us as we're not a fashionable club. For however hard he works, he should score more goals. We've already got one work horse up front in Zamora, we don't need two.

Don't think AJ, despite his impressive work rate, is getting enough goals to justify an England call up. Anyway, keep him fit for Fulham!
