How old is old?
It`s a question the young probably ponder over frequently!
When Mark Schwarzer left Middlesbrough to join Fulham, it was widely suggested that the Australia would probably only be around for a couple of seasons before he called it a day.
Apparently, not so!
Recent performances have been adequate proof that Mark still has what it takes, at the top level, to continue for several more years. In fact the Aussie has recently spoken about his career and his ambition of still being in top notch come the next World Cup where he hopes to play for his beloeved home country, in South Africa.
Speaking about retirement and what he hopes Australia can achieve, this is what Mark had to say,
'I haven't really put a timeframe on it, I'm just going to take it as it comes,".
'My main aim is to qualify for the World Cup and then go to the World Cup and have a successful tournament again like we did in 2006."
'I'd like to set ourselves a goal to even better that."
'It's one thing saying it and another thing doing it, but you've got to set yourself high standards and I believe that we can achieve those goals."
'First, let's get there and once we get there we can talk about what the future holds for us as a team or for me as an individual."
'We know how important it is to get the points as quickly as possible and make sure our place in the World Cup is assured."
It would be great to see Mark playing on such a coveted stage wouldn`t it?
