Fulham - Etuhu Fitting the Bill!

I know I`ve hardly shown many positive thoughts about Dickson Etuhu but now I`d like to put the record straight.

On Sunday, against West Brom, I thought he had his best display for the side so far.

Sitting alongside Danny Murphy, in midfield, he provided the muscle we need but more importantly Murphy wasn`t left isolated like he used to be when Jimmy Bullard went foraging on his runs.

I guess what I`m trying to say and I`m keen to see if anyone feels the same, is that the side looks better balanced with Etuhu in there, or am I getting carried away?

i totally agree we look more balanced in midfield, i always thought when bullard played he took players out of position ; i think we will be even tougher to break down if etuhu can continue to play like he did against WBA

I also thought he played really well at the weekend. He reminded me of Bouba in his day when he used to patrol our midfield. I thought he broke down their attacks really well and gave our midfield a lot of strength defensively, which we never really had with Jimmy. I hope he can keep those performances up as I was very impressed.

on the opposite side of the ball though i remember him standing around not getting into passing lanes when we were playing the ball out of the back... i'm not saying i want him running all over the place like jimmy did, but he could look to get open and give people an option...

Not totally convinced, yet. It was West Brom after all. But, I think he's growing into the holding role, and it's allowing Murphy, Dempsey and Davies freedom to attack and provide service to the forward line, which they've done quite well of late.

i agree putney, etuhu does balance up the midfield...but i dont think he will suit every match we play. he is much more of a strong midfielder, like dacourt, and sometimes 2 attacking minded midfielders (murphy and barnes) works really well. it depends on the match ahead in my eyes. but etuhu is definately a good player, and is well worth a 1st team place!

Dacourt looked good when he came on but Etuhu is settling into the role - fair play to him!

i did like they way dacourt looked when he came on. i think he's a bit of a better player than etuhu. but to be honest i'm glad we have both. all the midfielders we have give roy a chance for different looks.

really liked the look of Etuhu on Sunday and agree somewhat with the 'Wardrobe' comparisons though the key factor in remindin me of Bouba had to be Etuhu's power volley from the woeful West Brom clearance. For the first time im starting to think he fits the bill. Gives Murphy that bit more freedom which links the midfield to attack much better - be interesting to see what hodgeson decides when Dacourt, Barnes and Joe are all match fit though
