'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - Possibly for Sale?

Despite the 'credit crunch` biting deep into our economy, the world off football continues to; strangely, operate outside of the financial restrictions placed on the rest of society.

Salaries and transfer fees continue to amaze and the announcement, during the week, that Sky Sports have won five of the six live packages thereby injecting a massive £1.78 billion into the game puts it on a financial footing few industries can match.

But, the promise of such cash has, if you believe the journalists, kick started the possibility that several Premier League clubs could be changing hands in the not too distant future.

Today, in the News of the World, there`s a two page spread that covers the Premier League clubs and gives a brief paragraph debating whether a club is up for sale or not or possibly might be.

Interestingly, for Fulham, they`re quoting that a figure in the region of £100 million could tempt Mr Al Fayed to part with his football club, stating that a sale may take place because, despite his obvious wealth, Mr Al Fayed has accepted he can`t match the big-spenders of the Premier League.

Could there be uncertain, challenging or even changing times ahead?

Any comments would be welcomed!

Hmmm. Al Fayed is a legend, and always will be. But if we could get the spending power of city, and the transfer intelligence of Roy, then I wouldn't be too displeased. But that is hard to come by, all these new owners want to bring in their own players. A clone of Randy Lerner would be quite good i think.

I think it's an uncertain time for owners these days. Obviously it's better to sell with your team still in the top-flight, and with Fulham flirting with relegation the past two seasons, he might see this as the perfect time to get out with a nice profit. And, just because we get new ownership, doesn't necessarily mean they'll fund a spending spree for new talent.

i like our squad and i like our owner... too many big money owners use the squad as they're plaything, and i'd rather not have that than have loads of cash to spend.
