Fire Blocked McBride`s Fulham Return?

It was a rumour that was doing the rounds before the transfer window slammed shut.

A rumour that suggested that Brian McBride was returning to Craven Cottage for one last hurrah!

But it never happened and we were left wondering why and pondering over what might have been.

Well it turns out that McBride was very keen to return but that his club, Chicago Fire, were the ones objecting with Roy Hodgson remarking,

"It`s fair to say Brian was angry. We all wanted it to happen — apart from Chicago Fire."

All rather sad really!

his arrival might have deflated Nevland though - what does he have to do to start!

why would fire let him go, hes on a good salary they cant afford him getting injured. fair enough in my books, club should have set up a return deal b4 now

agreed, it shouldn't have waited till the last minute. plus, with the beckham debacle going on now with the mls and ac milan, i can't blame the fire for now wanted to get involved with something like that.

Fire had to jump through so many hoops to get him signed because another MLS team had first rights to sign him. For them to do all that work just to see him leave so quickly probably did not sit well with them. That said, would've been nice to see Brian back in Fulham colors.
