'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - Dacourt's Last Hurrah?

The late loan signing of the Inter Milan player, Olivier Dacourt, has excited many of us.

But, quotes we`re finding strewn around the internet, suggest that his spell at Fulham may be short and that it may even be Olivier`s last hurrah.

Found in the Evening Standard on Fuday evening, were the following quotes that add weight to our theory,

"I have for four months to enjoy myself, to have fun, after that I will see. Maybe I will quit football."

So is Dacourt looking for one last hurrah or is there an underlying reason for those quotes?

If we dig deeper we find that the quotes could surround the injury he suffered, a serious knee ligament one, that looked as if it could end his career, an incident that caused Dacourt to remark,

"At the time I wanted to quit because I was out for so long."

"I came back with the support of my family and my friends, and I wanted to prove I could still play football But I didn`t have the chance."

Those last few words are interesting as they are obviously a thinly veiled dig at the inter boss, Jose Mourinho, who has been reluctant to use Dacourt this season.

It`s a fact that grates with Dacourt as he remarks,

"Throughout my career I`ve been at big clubs and I have nothing to prove to anyone, just to myself that I can still play after the injury to the knee. I know I will need some games to be fit but I am not worried about that. I just want to enjoy playing again, because football is my passion."

With the scene set, it promises to be an exciting four months in the company of Olivier Dacourt doesn`t it!
